The urgent case for BPSC reform
For years now, the Balochistan Public Service Commission (BPSC) has failed to conduct its exams regularly, leaving many candidates overage and uncertain about their career prospects. The commission has been functioning without a permanent chairman for over three months, causing complete suspension of recruitment for more than 4,000 government posts. These delays have left nearly 100,000 job applicants in a limbo. The exam processes have sparked widespread criticism over lack of transparency and alleged irregularities in results. The system itself has been criticised for outdated syllabi, repeated postponements and irregular scheduling. The government must appoint a qualified BPSC chairman immediately, ensure annual examinations with transparent processes, and introduce the much-awaited reforms.
