Karachi’s poor infrastructure
A 84-inch water pipeline burst near the Staff Colony of the University of Karachi led to the flooding of faculty residences, causing significant damage to household property, and forcing many families to relocate temporarily. The water supply to several parts of Karachi remained suspended, impacting daily life. It is imperative that the relevant authorities take immediate steps to address the vulnerabilities in the city’s infrastructure. Regular maintenance and timely upgrades of essential utilities, like water pipelines, are crucial to preventing such incidents. Moreover, there should be a transparent investigation into the causes of the pipeline burst to ensure accountability and prevent future occurrences.
