Deadly surge of measles in Sindh

Well over a thousand cases of measles have been recorded in Sindh in just the first quarter of this year, with 40 of these children having lost their lives. Measles is a preventable disease, and its resurgence points to critical gaps in vaccination coverage, public awareness and timely intervention. Equally concerning is the apparent lack of sustained efforts in the form of public awareness campaigns, community outreach and educational initiatives. The Sindh Health Department must act now. Mass awareness campaigns, intensified vaccination drives and community engagement are essential to curbing the spread of the disease.
