Minor siblings’ campaign owned by State of Palestine

It is a matter of great pride not only for young Pakistani siblings, Ubaydah Al Fiddhah Hafiah (11) and Ghulam Bishar Hafi (13), but for the entire Pakistani nation, that the Palestinian Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr Zuhair Zaid, has acknowledged their struggle as part of the State of Palestine’s cause. The two siblings have steadfastly raised their long-run campaign titled ‘voice for the voiceless’ to save the children from a situation, which held all major hallmarks of a ‘Systematic Infanticide’. And now these young siblings are bringing to the world’s attention the starkest need of the hour and the sensitive most pressing concern — the subject-matter of the ‘orphan amputees’, who have been orphaned, became left-alone and unaccompanied. Now these left-alone innocent amputees are with multiple disabilities for the rest of their lives, which the 15-months-long genocidal war has left them with…!
The Embassy of Palestine in Pakistan recently hosted a special reception to honour the siblings for their unwavering support for the children of Gaza. Ambassador Dr Zaid expressed profound gratitude for their extraordinary act of solidarity.
In an appreciation letter (Ref No: PAL/139/25), Dr. Zaid praised the siblings for their courage and compassion, calling their gesture a symbol of “unwavering support for justice and humanity.” He wrote, “I find myself at a loss for words, overwhelmed by the depth of your courage, the purity of your love, and the boundless compassion you have shown.”
Dr. Zaid was moved by their message of solidarity, describing it as a reminder that “humanity is still alive in its purest form.” Highlighting the significance of their sacrifice, he stated, “Your sacrifice, though small in action, is immeasurable in meaning. It is a testament to the unwavering spirit of justice, a flame that refuses to be extinguished even in the face of unimaginable suffering.”
He emphasised that their gesture had forged “an unbreakable bond that transcends distance and time” between Pakistanis and Palestinians. The ambassador also praised the duo’s ability to transform “pain into power, grief into hope, and silence into a voice that echoes across borders.”
In his letter, Dr. Zaid admired how the siblings’ words, “written with hands so young yet hearts so vast,” held immense impact. He added, “Your blood has mingled with the cries of the innocent,” and commended their commitment to fighting not with violence but through “love and truth — a beacon of humanity amidst the darkest times.”
Concluding his letter, Dr. Zaid expressed heartfelt gratitude: “From the depths of my heart, I thank you. I honour you. And I promise that your message, written in the language of sacrifice, will never fade.” He hoped that their courage would inspire millions worldwide to stand for justice and humanity.
In his closing remarks, the ambassador declared the siblings “heroes whose compassion is an example for others to follow in the ongoing global pursuit of justice and human dignity.”
A statement, issued by Prof. Dr. Aurangzeb Hafi, the father and inspiration of the sister-brother duo, quoted the ambassador as saying that Palestine owned these two kids, their petitions, resolutions and protest notes, issued in connection with the campaign against brutalities, committed by the armed forces against the Gaza children.
According to the details, Dr. Zaid, accompanied by his daughter, declared at the reception, that from now on, Ubaydah Al Fiddhah and Ghulam Bishar would be considered his own children, alongside his five biological children. The children’s mother Dr. Bareera N. B. was also present at the occasion. The ambassador also discussed with Prof. Hafi, the urgent issue of protecting and resettling orphaned children from Gaza, particularly those who have been left amputees due to the ongoing violence.
The Palestinian ambassador had extended the invitation after a recent ceremony in Karachi, in which a special documentary featured the blood-written protest notes by these two kids on Gazan children issue. The event also marked them as the youngest-ever children to come forth as ‘frontline soldiers’ of such a noble cause.
Along with the documentary, a detailed report was also compiled on global protests against the atrocities in Gaza. The siblings’ unique and impactful protest — blood-written notes and open letters to the global authorities — was ranked at the top for its effectiveness, making their campaign one of the few officially recognised by Palestinian authorities.
A few weeks ago, following the Gaza ceasefire, the siblings revived their ‘Voice for the Voiceless’ campaign, advocating for Palestinian amputee children. They condemned the deliberate destruction of schools, maternity centres, kindergartens, and hospitals, calling all this the ‘clear hallmarks of a systematic infanticide’. With thousands of children orphaned and many left permanently disable, they urged urgent care for disable orphans and stressed that each child lost is not just a statistic but a stolen childhood and a life forever altered.
The siblings had launched their campaign for the rights of Gaza children and those in conflict zones in June 2024. Their first protest, blood-written notes, coincided with the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression on June 4, 2024. These notes were presented to international platforms, including the UN and global hierarchies, as a call to awaken the world’s conscience to the ‘voice of the voiceless.’
The key milestones in their campaign included:
*. August 19, 2024 (UN World Humanitarian Day): The siblings issued a second global appeal, ‘Humanitarian Eyes are Needed to See the Ongoing Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza.’
*. September 21, 2024 (International Day of Peace): They submitted another blood-written protest note to international bodies, condemning Neo-Hitlerian atrocities in Occupied Palestine, where 700,000 children face starvation, and newborns suffer relentless trauma.
*. November 20, 2024 (World Children’s Day): The UN-KAKHTAH panel honoured them with the ‘Grace de Monaco International Medal’ for advocacy and the ‘Eglantyne Jebb Platinum Pen for Peace’ for promoting children’s rights. They were also awarded two-year study scholarships in any country, along with $10,000 in educational funds.
*. November 29, 2024 (International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People): The siblings dedicated their awards to the children of Gaza.
*. December 20, 2024 (International Human Solidarity Day): They launched an online petition, ‘Stop Infanticide in Gaza’ (www.stopInfanticide.world), urging UN Secretary-General António Guterres and UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell to act against the mass killings of Palestinian children.
Their campaign aligned with the UN exhibit ‘Gaza, Palestine: A Crisis of Humanity’ at the UN General Assembly (Nov 26, 2024 – Jan 10, 2025). After the exhibit concluded, the siblings virtually extended its outreach worldwide. UniTokyo Group of Companies from Japan has come forth to become a principal ally in the virtual extension and outreach of the campaign worldwide.
The minor siblings ensure to continue advocacy for the rights and rehabilitation of Gaza’s orphans, disable and especially over-n-above all — the overwhelmingly urgent need of taking “high emergency measures’ towards the ‘care and cure’ of ‘the innocent left-alone amputee children of Gaza’.
