Safety standards

This is with reference to the report ‘Six burnt to death, 38 injured as LPG tanker explodes in Multan’. This catastrophic event highlights not only the devastating consequences of negligence but also the systemic failure to enforce safety standards and regulations. In addition to regulatory reforms, the government must address the root cause of the issue: the country’s energy crisis. Investing in alternative energy solutions, such as renewable energy projects, can reduce dependence on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and provide safer, and, more critically, sustainable options for households and businesses. While LPG remains a vital energy source for millions, its usage must not come at the expense of human lives. It is time to act now.
